In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead…James 2:17 (NIV)
We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ…1st Thessalonians 1:3 (NIV)
The scriptures above admonishes that faith should be put into action or else faith will not benefit. Some have faith without doing anything with it, and others just work without faith. None of these two conditions will produce any or much impact.
Consider someone believing that God will prosper him financially but not effectively doing anything but sitting at home all day. That will be an example of having faith without actions…the scripture says its a dead faith. Another may be going around doing the ‘work’ of the kingdom with doubt in the heart. This also will end in futility as there is no faith attached to what is being done.
For faith to be effective, faith must be put to use. Putting faith to use is like an exercise regime. It gets better and easier with use. Don’t be discouraged by the fact that it probably didn’t work as expected initially , keep taking bold steps of faith knowing that a mountain may not grow bigger with time, but your faith can when put to use in moving the mountain. God Bless you.
